Our Taos Box Plus Two Day trip begins at the John Dunn Bridge, at the mouth of Arroyo Hondo. This trip runs the Taos Box with class IV whitewater the first day and the Lower Gorge the second day with class III whitewater. This trip ends at the Taos and Rio Arriba county line.

DATES: April 1 - July 15. Our longest New Mexico river trip is usually available throughout the season,

PARTICIPANTS: We welcome beginning rafters 12 years of age and older. You should be in normal good health and prepared for the moderate exertion of the trail. Guides will do the navigating in oar-powered rafts, or groups of 4-6 may request a paddle raft.

COSTS: $290 Per person plus New Mexico sales tax, with 50% advance deposit required. Group discounts are available for 12+. Add New Mexico sales tax.

SAMPLE ITINERARY: On the first day, we cover 15 miles and fifteen named rapids. Beginning at the top of precipitous Powerline Falls, we descend at an average gradient of 55 feet per mile through drops with names like The Rockgarden, Screaming Left Hand Turn, Enema, and then finishing with Sunset where your run is captured by a photographer. We then camp at one of the Orilla Verde Recreation Area's many campsites.

On the second day the ancient lava flow through which we float is scenic and accessible. We spend the morning rafting down the Rio Grande near the Orilla Verde Recreation Area, with beautiful scenery and just a couple of mellow rapids. This day's midpoint is the village of Pilar, New Mexico where we will observe a quiet zone to minimize the impact of our passage through this historic, small New Mexican community.  Below the village, we enter the section called the Rio Grande Racecourse, a section of intense whitewater, with rapids named:  Albert’s Falls, Herringbone, Narrows, Big Rock, and Sousehole. We take out at the County Line and then we have you back to your car by 3:00-4:00pm.

Our Meeting Place And Time: Meet us at 8:00 A.M. at the Far Flung Adventures Boathouse. Head North from Taos on Highway 64 to the stop light.
