“To My Compadres and Me”
Steven Fromholz’ 30th Birthday (x2) Celebration
Rio Chama, New Mexico June 9-11, 2006
Cost: $700
In the Fall 1984, river outfitter Far-Flung Adventures launched its “Texas River Music” series with Austin’s wittiest singer-songwriter, Steven Fromholz. It was the time of the “Great Progressive Country Music Scare” of which Fromholz, with his pal Willie Nelson, was a key proponent. Over the years, Fromholz became a legendary river guide, hosting numerous late night pickin’ and grinnin’ sessions on the banks of the Rio Grande, Rio Antigua and other great rivers, before suffering a serious health scare.
Now on the road to recovery, Steven returns to the oars on the twin occasions of his 61st, and Far-Flung Adventures’ 30th, birthdays. Join Fromholz and friends for the umpteenth River Music renewal on New Mexico’s Rio Chama. Booming baritones on sandstone canyons nestled in bosque campsites highlight a fun-filled, two night, raft-based campout that also features visits to dinosaur footprints and archaeological sites, Feast on the Flood cuisine and Class 2-3 whitewater. Join the fun by calling Far-Flung Adventures at 800-359-2627
